Lairgate Financial has been giving financial advice from Beverley since 2016. A decade of sitting down with people, understanding what they actually need, and helping them deal with their finances properly.
That is the job. It has not changed.
What the work actually involves
People come to us at different points. Some have never taken financial advice before and are not sure where to start. Some have existing plans that have not been looked at in years. Some are facing a specific decision — a pension, a protection policy, an inheritance — and need someone to help them think it through clearly.
What they all have in common is that they want to understand their own financial position. Not a sales pitch. Not a recommendation that arrives before anyone has asked the right questions. Just someone who will listen properly, explain things in plain language, and make sure everything is set up in a way that actually makes sense for their situation.
That is what we do. Every client, every time.
What ten years teaches you
You learn what matters and what does not. Most people do not need complicated solutions. They need clarity. They need to know where they stand, what their options are, and what happens if circumstances change. They need someone who will tell them the truth even when the truth is not what they were hoping to hear.
You also learn that the relationship matters more than any individual transaction. The clients who have stayed with us over the years are not here because of a single piece of advice. They are here because they trust that when something changes in their life — a job, a bereavement, a retirement — they have someone who already knows their situation and will deal with it properly.
That trust takes time to build. It cannot be shortcut. A decade in, it is the thing we are most proud of.
What has changed
The business has evolved. We have a new office at The Hall on Lairgate — a better space for the work. The team has developed. The brand has been updated to reflect where the business is now rather than where it started.
Some things changed because we chose to change them. Some changed because circumstances required it. All of it has shaped the business into something clearer and more purposeful than it was in year one.
What has not
The way we work with clients has not changed. We take time to understand someone’s full situation before saying anything. We put our recommendations in writing and explain exactly why we are making them. We do not implement anything until the client understands what is happening and is comfortable with it.
The commitment to this area has not changed either. The people we work with are in Beverley, in the East Riding, across East Yorkshire. They are individuals making real decisions about real money. Being based here, knowing this area, matters.
The next ten years
The business is in good shape. The foundations have been built carefully over a decade. The focus stays exactly where it has always been.
Individual clients. Dealt with properly. For as long as they want to work with us.
